Hello. My name is Megan and I like to draw. This will be a blog documenting my process through 3D Design.
Chapter 5: Cultivating Creativity
After reading and taking notes on Cultivating Creativity, I can identify with most of the points they make, and agree with their creative and organized ideas. It helps to see the creative process blocked out into manageable steps and guidelines.
I’ve always been quite a curious person; when I was little, I would read a hefty amount of books, especially as a small child, and draw almost every day. I often daydreamed when I wasn’t supposed to and had a knack for remembering the happenings in my dreams, no matter how ridiculous or ordinary they were. I often wondered about many things and had some very interesting ideas. Not much has changed since that time. My ideas never seem to cease and find away to make it to paper or sketch. I’m very open minded (unless you’re punting babies, or something strange like that) and I’m willing to listen to other’s ideas and opinions. That’s why this class is an excellent opportunity to swap and learn new ideas from extremely creative individuals. I love to learn and I think knowledge is one of the most important things in life.
However, when it comes to executing these ideas I’m not extremely organized. I have a bad habit of thinking up great ideas and then falling into a routine that doesn’t include my great idea. Either I’m too busy with college, work, or catching up with my friends and family. In this class I will make it a point to keep organized and write things down, including my goals for this class, in my assignment notebook. I will think about my ideas in greater detail than I usually would so I can try and foresee any obstacles that may come up later as the class moves on to new projects. I will plan out my process in-between college and work so I can accomplish my goals successfully and effectively.
Another bad habit of mine that will need to be broken in order to achieve my goals is how I procrastinate my ideas and goals to the very last minute. I am quite aware that when I do this I tend to do a poor job and feel even more stressed out. To avoid losing self esteem over stupid habits and finish my goals in a timely manner, I will put time aside every week, probably on the weekends and in the evenings, to complete my planned out goals while managing to make time for my other classes, work, and my social life.
Nothing feels better than knowing you can accomplish something and believing that you can do whatever you put your mind to. In this class I will try and focus more on completing my ideas in a timely and organized manner.
